If you've read the last two daily articles you may get the
idea that I believe that the 10th house, representing our
career, is not connected to our life purpose. This is not
the case. I think the 10th house is overrated for representing
our life purpose and that we often mistakenly believe that
we have to do an influential, public work to fulfill our dharma.
The 10th house is called the karma sthana or house
of action. It is the 30 degrees segment of the sky that is
directly overhead, the zenith. It needs to be looked at for
understanding our life purpose because it's represents our
actions that are the most visible, what we are most known
for publically, the mark we leave in the world. There are
four significators of the 10th house: Mercury, Saturn, the
Sun and Jupiter. The fact that the Sun and Jupiter are included
in this list, as well as being the significators of the dharma
houses (as we saw in yesterday's article) confirms that the
10th house is an important consideration.
However, our work is obviously not always what inspires us
and gives our lives meaning. Some people, for instance, lead
dual lives where their work is what makes them money, but
their real passion is a hobby that they do on the side. It's
what keeps them inspired, which is what is most important
in the final analysis with regards to fulfilling our life
purpose.
