In order to understand one's life purpose we have to take
a close look at the dharma houses, 1, 5, 9, their lords, and
the significators of these houses, the Sun and Jupiter. The
10th house, it's lord and signficators the Sun, Jupiter, Mercury,
and Saturn are also important as they are the primary indicators
for career, our public work, for the mark that one leaves
in the world. However, we can't mistake our work/career with
our passion. They could be unrelated, as many people have
jobs, for example, that provide their income, but that their
real passion is what they do outside of their job environment.
When one enters the dashas or planetary periods of planets
in any way connected with these houses or significators (by
rulership, aspect, placement in these houses etc.) then it
represents a time to get on one's path and stop playing around
with distractions. We're much less willing compromise our
ideals, and inspirations especially when we enter the dashas
of dharma house lords, the Sun and Jupiter.
For
example, in the following chart this woman realized that her
passion was to be an artist in her Jupiter dasha and sub period
of Venus, the planet of art. Notice how Venus is the ruler
of the 5th house (and 10th house), is located in the 1st house,
is conjunct the 9th lord, Mercury, and aspected by both Jupiter
and the Sun. Notice how this also repeats from both alternate
lagnas (ascendants), the Moon and Sun. She was always interested
in art, but was afraid to dive into her passion out of financial
concerns. In this period she made the leap, and never went
back to her old life.
The dharma lords represent the fire element, because they
correspond to Aries, Leo and Sagittarius, the 1st, 5th and
9th signs. Fire corresponds to Spirit, and in these dashas
we become moved by Spirit, meaning, and inspiration. It's
a time we connect more with Spirit and our inner Self, soul.
Fire also represents courage and we tend to have more courage
at these times as well. You could say we find our life purpose
during these times, but it could be equally true that our
life purpose 'finds us.'
