Predicting the Super Bowl Outcome   2/6/2006

There are many ways to predict the outcome of a sporting event, like the Super Bowl, using astrology. Perhaps the simplest method is to get the birth information of the leaders of both sport teams. This could be the two head coaches or in the case of football, the two quarterbacks. Of course, you're lucky if you can find their birth time. Usually only the date and place is available, in which case just use 12:00 noon birth time. Then look at the major transits for the day of the event and see which player receives the most favorable aspects to the Sun, Moon, and other planets in the chart.

In yesterday's Super Bowl game the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger, had the better transits, their team won, and he became the youngest quarterback to win a Super Bowl. Jupiter was aspecting his natal Sun to within 5 degrees. Also, no matter what time he was born, he would be in a Rahu mahadasha and Jupiter aspects his natal Rahu to within 5 degrees.

By contrast, the Seattle Seahawks quarterback, Matt Hasselbeck, had Ketu and Saturn aspect his natal Sun to within 5 degrees. In addition, Mars was aspecting his Moon and Venus (planets of happiness), to within 5 degrees as well.

This method obviously has its limitations. In Vedic astrology, the dashas, yogas, and divisional charts generally take precedence over the transits. However, you can't use these without an accurate birth time. Using only transits, and the tightness of their orbs is worth experimenting with and can lead to accurate predictions of the outcomes of sporting events.
