An Example of Vasumati Yoga

In Vedic astrology there are hundreds of yogas or planetary
combinations that are very helpful to learn. Some are rare and
optional to learn, while others you will come across frequently
and should definitely learn. Without knowing them you may not
be able to understand a chart because they sometimes defy logic.
The vasumati yoga or vasumat yoga is one example of this kind
of yoga. Vasumat means 'wealthy' or 'rich' in Sanskrit.
It is a type of dhana yoga or wealthy producing yoga.
The classic text, Phaladeepika, describes it by saying:
When all the auspicious planets are posited in upachaya
houses (3, 6, 10, 11) whether reckoned from the ascendant or
the Moon, the resulting yoga is called Vasumat. If in any nativity
the Vasumat Yoga is formed then the native concerned will confine
himself to his house and be wealthy. Phaladeepika ch 6.
verse 20, 21.
The 11th house is well known as a house of wealth, but not the
3rd, 6th, or 10th. Combinations of these houses do not form
dhana yogas. However, the vasumati yoga is an exception.
Here's an example of a Vasumati Yoga from chandra lagna
or the Moon ascendant. Notice how Jupiter, Mercury and Venus
are each in an upachaya house from the Moon in Aries. Jupiter
is in the 6th house, while Mercury and Venus are in the 11th
house. This person is exceptionally wealthy. He does not necessarily
confine himself to his home, but has made much of his money
through real estate. He also owned a successful property management
firm.
At first glance, this chart doesn't appear to be a chart of
wealth. The 2nd and the 11th houses are the primary houses of
wealth and income. Here, the 2nd lord, Sun, and the 11th lord,
Venus, are both in the malefic 8th house. In addition, Jupiter
is the significator of wealth and here is in the 3rd house from
the ascendant, and the 6th house from the Moon. If you didn't
understand the vasumati yoga combination from the Moon you wouldn't
be able to understand this charts strength to produce wealth.
His navamsha chart shows wealth much more obviously. He has
Saturn, Mercury, and Venus in the ascendant in Saturn's own
sign of Capricorn. This forms multiple multiple dhana or wealth
producing yogas between the 1st, 2nd, 5th, and 9th lords. For
