Mars, Siblings and the 3rd House

Vedic astrology becomes the most fascinating when the circumstances
that someone is experiencing is so clearly seen in their chart.
This is a chart of a woman who's next younger brother was causing
her so much grief that it was practically consuming her life.
Mars is the karaka or significator of siblings, and
in this case Mars also rules the 3rd house, which is the house
of the next younger sibling.
So many factors were reinforcing that this was an extremely
challenging time for her younger brother. This was, in fact,
the case. He was a drug addict, and she had just reported him
to the police, hoping that he was arrested that he'd finally
change his life around, even though he'd have jail time. She
was living with him at the time, which made it an even more
intense, dramatic, and stressful time for her as well as her
brother.
During this time, the woman was in her Sun-Mars dasha, from
June until October 2006. Notice how Mars, the 3rd lord, is in
the 6th house of conflict, and debilitated in the sign of Cancer.
Saturn was transiting over her Mars in July, and aspecting the
3rd house, as well as both the Sun and Mars, her dasha lords.
Notice how tight the transit of Saturn is to Mars, revealing
the volatility of the situation, and the heavy karmic burden
that he's having to face. Additionally, the double
transit of Jupiter and Saturn was in the 3rd house as well,
as both were aspecting Aries by transit. All these factors were
pointed toward a focus on her relationship with her brother,
and the conflict the was coming to a dramatic head.
